DRESDEN
a light blue passat. love her!

Volkswagen didn't make a whole bunch of Passats this color. The shade didn't go over very well (I suppose it wasn't "serious" enough for the drivers VW wanted), and was cancelled after 1998. Only a few thousand Passats were made in this shade. A similar shade is still available for Jettas and Beetles, all that's left for the Passat is the dark, navy-ish Indigo Blue

The greyish panel at the bottom is black on all new Passats, and the grey interior has also become quite rare, to the point that most automotive databases don't include it on the list of options for Passats after 1998 (VW will custom make you one -- if you pay MSRP)

A Volkswagen lore site I found a while back called this blue "the colour of the evening sky over the Dresden Audi plant." Apparently, it's still available for the Audi S4, and indeed was the shade of the 2001 model reviewed in the mid-July issue of AutoWeek (FYI, it beat out the BMW M3 in almost every respect).

I go on and on about the colour, because that's the only thing that sets this car apart from a new one. Well, that, 22,000 miles and about 5000$ #8-]

For the non-VW enthusiast, Passats have power everything, a great ride computer, an incredibly peppy and emissions friendly 150 hp 1.8l turbocharged engine (tunable to a ghastly 285 hp), a security system, big trunk and great sound. This one's got a moonroof and i'm putting on a set of alloy wheels as soon as I find $700 that are unallocated (ha).
